Security Hardening Cost

Website Security Hardening Cost in India

Security spending is hard to justify until something goes wrong, and by then the invoice is larger. The useful way to price it is by control: what gets checked, what gets changed and what stays monitored afterwards. A hardening fee should buy all three, not a scan and a PDF.

Website Security Hardening Cost

Two sites of the same size can need very different amounts of work. One has been patched monthly and has two administrators; the other has eleven dormant accounts, a nulled theme and no backup that has ever been restored. Price follows condition, not page count.

Website security hardening cost by stage in 2026

The stages are sequential. Access work done before patching, for example, can lock out the account that the update needs.

Hardening is quoted starting from Rs 7,999 for a single site. Cleanup of an active infection, blacklist removal and recovery from a sustained breach are quoted after inspection, because the scope depends on what was changed.

StageWhat the stage coversWhat you receive
AuditVersion and plugin review, account list, permissions, headers, backup statusA ranked list of weaknesses with evidence
PatchingCore, theme and plugin updates tested on a copy, with a rollbackCurrent software and a snapshot to return to
Access controlAdministrator review, second factor, least privilege, login restrictionsA short account list and enforced sign-in rules
Malware removalEntry-point tracing, clean restore, file and database comparisonA clean site and a note on how it was entered
Monitoring and backupsFile integrity, failed logins, outbound traffic, off-server copiesAlerts that reach a person and a restore that is tested
What raises a hardening estimate
01
An active infection. Tracing an entry point takes longer than deleting files that reappear a week later.
02
Multiple sites or subdomains. Each installation carries its own plugins, accounts and logs.
03
Commerce or personal data. Payment flows and stored customer records widen the investigation.
04
Server-level access. Work inside the operating system or control panel sits outside a site-only engagement.
05
Custom application code. Reviewing bespoke code for injection and authorisation faults is a separate discipline.
06
Blacklist removal. Search engines and browsers run their own review, which takes time rather than money.
What the Rs 7,999 starting point covers

The entry point assumes a healthy site on a supported platform: an access review, a staging-safe patch run, permission and header checks, an off-server backup verification and monitoring for the first cycle.

A site that is already redirecting visitors, sending mail on its own or showing a search warning is not at the entry point. It is an incident, and incidents are scoped separately.

Why cleanup is quoted after inspection

A fixed cleanup price written before anyone looks at the files is either inflated to cover the worst case or too low to do the job. We inspect, identify what was altered and then quote the recovery.

Where a clean backup exists, the quote is usually small. Where none does, the work becomes a rebuild of the affected installation.

Subscriptions that are not our fee

Firewall services, malware scanning plans, uptime monitors and certificate authorities charge their own rates. We configure and verify them, and pass the subscription through without a markup.

Some providers bundle scanning with hosting. If yours does, the hardening quote drops accordingly rather than pretending the subscription is new work.

What is outside a hardening engagement

Penetration testing, compliance certification, staff awareness training and incident response retainers are different services. So is a full code audit of a custom application, which needs source access and a separate testing window.

We name those gaps because a hardening report is sometimes mistaken for a compliance certificate. It is evidence of controls, not a substitute for an audit against a named standard.

Budgeting the first year

The first pass costs more than the second, because it repairs years of deferred updates. After that, hardening folds into a monthly care plan and the annual figure becomes predictable.

Set the first-year budget as hardening plus one likely incident. A business that has never restored a backup should assume it will need to.

What a hardening brief should contain

Send the platform and version, the plugin list, whether the site has been compromised before and who currently holds administrator access. If mail or search results are already affected, mention that first.

Signs that the work is urgent

New browser warnings, a hosting suspension notice, unexpected outbound mail or a sudden drop in search visibility all point at compromise rather than maintenance. Treat those as an incident and ask for containment before a quote.

What hardening looks like afterwards

A short account list, a patch calendar, a tested backup and alerts that someone actually reads. The report should show each control with a date, so the next reviewer can tell what changed and when.

Tell us the platform and what you have seen

Write to [email protected] with the platform, the plugin list and any warning that appeared, or send the same on WhatsApp.

If the site is already redirecting visitors or has lost its search listings, call contact us and ask for containment rather than a quote.

Frequently Asked Questions
A single healthy site is quoted starting from Rs 7,999 for audit, patching, access control, backup verification and monitoring. Cleanup after an infection is quoted after inspection, since the price depends on what was altered.
No. The floor assumes a clean site. Removal, entry-point tracing and blacklist follow-up are a separate scope because an infected installation needs investigation before anyone can estimate it honestly.
Because a screenshot shows the symptom, not the entry point. Files, database rows, scheduled tasks and user accounts may all have been changed, and the quote follows what the inspection finds.
They are configured but not included. Those services bill at their own rates, and we pass them through without adding a margin.
No. This engagement covers the website, its accounts and its backups. Endpoints, email clients and network devices belong to IT support, which is scoped separately.
Patches monthly, an access review quarterly and a restore test at least twice a year. A care plan carries those tasks so they do not depend on someone remembering.
For hardening, yes. Updates are tested on a copy first and applied in a quiet window. For an active infection, a short maintenance window is usually safer than leaving the payload live.
It can, which is why a staging copy and a rollback sit inside the patching stage. Where a content security policy blocks a legitimate tag, we add the source rather than removing the protection.
A control list with dates, the account inventory, the patch record, the backup restore result and the monitoring alerts configured. That document is what an insurer or a buyer usually asks to see.
