Cloud Services
One connected partner for planning, implementation, support, and ongoing optimization around this service area.
What this involves
Operations and IT heads searching for cloud help have either a specific problem (a system to move, a platform to pick) or a vague sense of running on fragile infrastructure. Both want an assessment of their own situation and a plan, not a list of product names.
What Delhi businesses need from this
The most researched market here. Buyers arrive with a requirements document and a shortlist of three to five vendors. Terms like migration and compliance carry weight, and a written answer beats a lower quote.
What is included
- Migration planning and execution in phases, with a fallback position held at every stage
- Environment build: networking, identity, access control, logging and budget controls set up on day one
- Day to day operation: patching, scaling, backup execution, monitoring, alerting and incident response
- Documentation and handover so the client's own team can run the environment without outside help
Approaches and how they differ
- Managed provider: The provider's team runs the platform and the operating routine. Lowest internal effort, recurring fee, and a real dependency on that team continuing.
- Self-managed: Client runs the platform with a small internal team, using outside help for design and escalation. Cheapest at steady state, slowest to get right.
- Hybrid split: Provider operates the platform layer, client owns application and data. Usually the right answer for Indian SMEs that already have IT staff.
- Single region, multi zone: An architecture choice rather than an operating model. Buys genuine resilience against a single data centre failure, and costs roughly twice as much.
What it suits, and what it does not
- Good fit: a single on-premises or VPS server holding several business systems that need uptime, backups and remote access
- Good fit: a web or mobile backend with uneven traffic, where paying for used capacity beats buying for the peak
- Good fit: internal systems where access control, audit logs and data location matter more than raw scale
- Good fit: Indian payment flows where gateway callback latency and webhook reliability decide whether checkout completes, and where TRAI-adjacent call recording or messaging records have retention rules that must be honoured
- Poor fit: a brochure site, campaign landing pages, or a small business site, where managed hosting is simpler and cheaper
- Poor fit: anything that cannot be modified, because the exit path is then closed before the work starts
Where projects like this go wrong
- Buying complexity before it is needed. Cloud is not automatically cheaper or better, and a single managed host often serves a small business perfectly
- Copying an architecture into production without a cost model, then meeting the bill for the first time
- Running backups that have never been restored. An untested backup is a hypothesis, not a safety net
- Treating the first migration as the last one, with no plan for handover, or for how the platform would be replaced
- Granting long lived standing access to individuals instead of named roles, so no one can later say who changed what
Who is responsible for what
- The client owns the cloud accounts, the billing relationship and root credentials. The provider does not own the tenancy and does not hold the master account
- The client owns application code, data classification, and which data may be stored in which region
- The client decides who gets access and approves access changes. The provider advises and implements
- The provider handles platform operation: patching, availability, monitoring, backup execution and incident response
- Cost control is shared. The provider sets budgets and alerts; the client authorises spend on growth, retention and new services
- Billing paperwork is the client's to keep straight: cloud invoices are raised outside India in many cases, so GST input credit on overseas spend is often not available and the cost needs to be modelled with that in mind
What buyers ask before starting
- Is cloud actually cheaper than what we run now?
- How long does the move take, and can the old system stay up during it?
- Where will our data physically sit?
- What happens if the person who set this up leaves the company?
- Do we have to use managed services or can we run it ourselves?
What actually matters
- The monthly total, including support plans, data transfer and log storage, not the compute line on its own
- How fast support responds at 2am and on public holidays, and whether it is a person who can act
- Whether backups are being restored and tested, on what schedule, and how many versions are kept
- Data location and the contractual terms attached to it, which matter for Indian customers and Indian regulation
- Exit cost. What it would realistically take to move elsewhere in a year is worth more than a discount today
Delhi specifically
The widest business spread of the four and the most competitive vendor market. South and central districts carry offices, trade houses and markets, outer colonies carry retail and clinics, older streets carry family firms.
Who buys this here
- Retail chains and franchise networks
- Fintech and SaaS firms with compliance rules
- Media firms with real traffic
- Trading houses moving off legacy platforms
- Enterprises consolidating servers
What they need it to do
- AWS and Azure migration scoped in phases
- Data residency, encryption, audit logs and access control
- Multi-zone design justified against its cost
- One contract covering compute, backup and monitoring
- Cost tagging that makes a departmental bill explainable
Connectivity and network conditions
Demand is larger and burstier: launches, sale season and always-on consumer platforms produce load no shared plan survives. Indian regions keep domestic latency low and rise sharply for overseas visitors.
How they tend to buy
Price is discussed openly and proposals compared line by line, but risk, response time and a written scope decide it. Buyers expect GST invoicing, a security questionnaire answered before kickoff and a named contact.
