Application Support in India

Application support in India is the work that keeps a live application correct and current. An application that shipped last year is already behind: libraries have moved, a browser changed, a certificate is about to expire and a user has found a defect nobody saw in testing. Application support is the work that keeps it usable.

Share your requirement, current setup, and expected timeline. We will help you scope the right service approach quickly.

Application support covers the code and configuration of an existing product. It is not a helpdesk for devices and it is not a new project. The job is to keep the application correct, current and usable while the business continues to operate.

What application support in India covers

The core of application support is defect handling. A user reports something that should work and does not. The team reproduces it, identifies the cause, fixes it, tests it and releases the fix.

Around that core sit small changes: a label, a validation rule, a report column, a permission, a configuration update. These are not new modules, but they are not incidents either, and they need a defined allowance.

Application support also covers the upkeep that users never see: dependency updates, security patches, certificate renewals, log review and backup checks. Skipping that work is how a stable application becomes a liability.

How application support is delivered
01
Intake: a ticket with the screen, the expected result, the actual result and a screenshot or trace.
02
Triage: confirm the defect, assign severity and estimate the fix window.
03
Fix: change the code or configuration, test it and prepare a release note.
04
Release: deploy through the agreed window, or hand the fix to the client's deployment team.
05
Review: a monthly report on incidents, fixes, hours used and recurring causes.
Bug fixes, small changes and new features

A bug is behaviour that does not match the agreed requirement. A small change is a modification to existing behaviour. A new feature is new capability. The three should be classified before work starts, because they are priced differently.

Write the classification into the support plan. If every request is treated as a bug, the retainer absorbs work it was never priced for. If every request is treated as a change, users stop reporting real defects.

A practical rule: a defect fix restores the documented behaviour; a change alters it; a feature adds a new workflow, screen or integration. The project manager confirms the category with the client.

Patching and dependency updates

Every application depends on frameworks, libraries, database drivers, payment SDKs and messaging providers. Those dependencies release security fixes and breaking changes on their own schedule.

Application support includes a patch cadence: review the advisories, test the update in staging, release it in a controlled window and keep a rollback path. A patch that is applied without testing is a new incident waiting to happen.

Certificates and domain records belong here too. An expired certificate can take a working application offline faster than a code defect.

User issues and support hours

Users report problems through email, chat, a helpdesk or a phone call. The support plan should define the intake channel, the information required and the person who owns the response.

24x7 coverage means an issue can be reported at any hour and triaged. For application support, the response is instant, with a 30-minute maximum. A business-hours plan is cheaper and may be enough for internal tools that are used only during office hours.

Access issues, permission changes and data corrections are often application support work, even when they look like IT requests. The boundary should be written down so they do not bounce between teams.

What application support does not cover

New modules, major redesigns, platform migrations and new integrations are projects. They can be delivered by the same team, but they are not part of the support allowance.

Third-party bills, cloud hosting, licences and message credits stay with the client. Device support, network changes and server administration sit with IT AMC or managed IT.

Production incidents may need production support rather than application support. If the system is down, the response is an incident process, not a normal defect queue.

Support for an app we did not build

We can support an existing application after a handover review. The review checks the repository, the build process, the deployment path, the database, the integrations and the monitoring. If the code is undocumented, the first month includes a runbook.

Do not promise an instant response on a system nobody understands. The handover period is what makes that commitment real.

What to prepare for handover

Send the repository access, the environment list, the deployment steps, the database schema, the third-party accounts and any known defects. Include the person who last worked on the code, even if only for a short call.

Write to [email protected] with the application stack and the support requirement, or message the team on WhatsApp.

What application support reports each month

The monthly report covers defects received, defects fixed, root causes, patches applied, change requests and hours used against the allowance. It also lists the fixes waiting on a release window.

Read it for patterns, not volume. A defect that returns every month is a design problem, and a patch that keeps getting deferred is a risk. Both should become planned work rather than another ticket.

Review the allowance every quarter. If change requests regularly exceed the included hours, the plan is undersized; if hours go unused, the scope may be broader than the business needs.

The next quarter should start from that review, not from a blank page.

It covers defect fixes, small changes, dependency and security patches, certificate checks and user issue handling for a live application.
Application support starts from Rs 4,999 a month. The price depends on the number of applications, support hours, response commitment and monthly change allowance.
No. New features, new modules and major redesigns are scoped as change requests or a separate development block.
A bug restores documented behaviour. A change alters existing behaviour. A feature adds new capability. The category is confirmed before work starts.
Yes, after a handover review of the code, build, deployment, database and integrations. The review may identify work needed before an instant-response commitment is realistic.
Coverage is 24x7, with an instant response and a 30-minute maximum. The plan defines severity, escalation and what counts as a first response.
A production outage goes through production support, which has its own incident process. Application support handles the code fix after the incident is contained.
Yes, as part of the patch cadence. Updates are tested in staging and released with a rollback path.
Through the agreed intake channel, usually a helpdesk or a shared inbox. Each report needs the screen, expected result, actual result and evidence.
