Moulding Software Cost

Plastic Moulding Software Cost in India (2026)

A moulder is paid for good parts, not for parts. Every hour of machine time that produces rejects, every mould that runs past its service interval and every kilo of regrind that goes back into the hopper changes the margin on the same job. The software has to see all three at the machine, not at month end.

Plastic Moulding Software Cost

The core modules are the mould register, machine and shift production entry, material issue with regrind ratio, quality and rejection capture, job-work billing, and dispatch with weight reconciliation. Machine PLC integration and ancillary equipment are quoted separately from the software licence.

Plastic moulding software cost by module in 2026

Ranges assume a plant running eight to twenty machines across two or three shifts.

A plant with a dozen machines typically spends Rs 3,50,000 to Rs 10,00,000. Fifteen to twenty machines with PLC data capture and multi-plant reporting run Rs 10,00,000 to Rs 20,00,000.

Mould life and maintenance in shots
01
Shot counter per mould. Recorded at production entry rather than estimated from output weight.
02
Service interval. A due flag when a mould crosses its planned shots, so maintenance is scheduled instead of forced.
03
Cavity history. Which cavity produces the rejects, and when it was last corrected.
04
Mould movement. Which machine a mould is mounted on, and when it was last removed.
05
Repair cost per mould. What the tool has cost so far, which informs whether to repair or replace.
Cycle time, downtime and machine utilisation

Cycle time is quoted in the job-work rate, so any drift in it is absorbed by the moulder. Capturing actual cycle against standard, per machine and per shift, shows where the estimate was wrong.

Downtime needs reasons, not just minutes: mould change, material shortage, power, maintenance, no operator. A reason list of six or seven entries is enough, as long as operators actually pick one.

Regrind, rejection and scrap accounting

Regrind is material that has already been paid for. Mixing it at a ratio is normal; losing track of the ratio is not, because the part cost in the quotation assumes a number.

Rejection should be recorded by defect type and by mould, not as a single percentage. A runner-related reject and a sink-mark reject have different fixes and different owners.

Job-work billing by weight and machine hour

Job-work quotes are usually built from part weight, cycle time, machine rate and a scrap allowance. Billing should follow the same logic, so the invoice can be reconstructed from the job card months later when a customer disputes it.

Where customers supply their own granules, the free-issue quantity has to be tracked against consumption, otherwise a shortfall at the end of the job becomes an argument.

Questions to ask a moulding software vendor

Ask whether production entry happens at the machine or in the office. Ask whether cycle time is captured automatically or typed. Ask how regrind ratio is applied to a job. Ask whether the mould register can block a mould that is past service.

Data has to come from the shop floor

Production figures reconstructed from a diary at the end of the shift are estimates wearing a decimal point. Whether that is a terminal at the machine or a supervisor's tablet, the entry point decides the quality of every report downstream.

Regrind ratio is a commercial number

Every quotation assumes a percentage of regrind. If the plant runs a higher ratio than the quote, the job is loss-making even when the invoice looks healthy. Tracking the ratio by job closes that gap.

What to confirm before a moulding software quote

Confirm the machine count, whether PLC or IoT integration is included or quoted separately, how many moulds are in the register, and whether job-work and own-product billing both need to run from one system.

Send the machine list and mould count

Write to [email protected] with the number of machines, shifts and active moulds, or send the same on WhatsApp. Machine count and integration scope drive most of the price.

If rejections are recorded as one monthly percentage today, call 7840002466 and we will start with mould-wise and defect-wise capture, because that is where the recoverable cost sits.

Frequently Asked Questions
A plant with eight to twenty machines typically pays Rs 3,50,000 to Rs 10,00,000 for the mould register, production, material, quality and job-work billing modules. PLC integration and multi-plant reporting take it to Rs 10,00,000 to Rs 20,00,000.
Yes. Manual production entry at a terminal costs less than PLC or IoT capture, and it is a reasonable first phase. The trade-off is that cycle time and downtime depend on operator discipline rather than on the machine.
Mould master and shot tracking, machine and shift production entry, downtime reasons, material issue with regrind ratio, rejection capture, job-work billing, dispatch and reporting. Controllers, sensors and machine wiring are separate.
Each production entry adds the shot count to the mounted mould. When the count crosses the planned service interval, the mould is flagged for maintenance and can be blocked from mounting until it is cleared.
Yes, both methods are common. Weight-based billing suits high-volume parts, machine-hour billing suits low-volume and large parts, and many plants use a combination with a minimum run charge.
It should record the free-issue quantity received, the quantity consumed against each job and the balance, so the reconciliation at job closure is a report rather than a negotiation.
Regrind generated from runners and rejects is weighed, recorded as a lot and issued back at a stated ratio. The job then shows virgin material and regrind separately, which is what the costing assumed.
Eight to fourteen weeks for a single plant, including mould register setup, machine masters, opening stock and operator training. PLC integration adds four to six weeks on its own.
Shop-floor entry needs to survive a dropped connection. A system that stores entries locally and syncs when the link returns avoids the situation where operators stop recording because the screen is stuck.
