Cloud Migration in India
Cloud migration for Indian businesses that want evidence before escalation: measured discovery, a written rehost-or-refactor recommendation, a rehearsed pilot, staged data movement and a rollback path already tested once. Our cloud migration method stays provider-neutral across AWS, Azure and Google Cloud, is priced per wave, and finishes with documentation your own team can operate without us.

What Cloud Migration in India Means for an Operating Business
Cloud migration is the controlled relocation of applications, databases, file shares, scheduled jobs and the network paths between them, out of a company-owned server room and into AWS, Azure or Google Cloud. Done properly it is a sequenced programme rather than a single event: discover, decide, rehearse, cut over, verify, then tune what you now run.
24Bit System runs cloud migration programmes for organisations across India that cannot afford guesswork, working provider-neutral so the recommendation reflects your stack, team skills, licensing position and regulatory duties instead of a reseller margin. Nothing is provisioned until that recommendation is on paper.
Four routes cover almost every case at this stage of a cloud migration, and the fourth is recommended more often than clients expect:
The written recommendation attaches a route, an effort band and a rough cost range to each workload, so you can approve pieces individually rather than signing off the estate for the whole cloud migration in a single approval.
- Rehost: — lifting a machine image onto an equivalent instance shape with no code change, chosen when the software already behaves well and only its address needs to change.
- Replatform: — moving the workload while swapping a self-managed database for a managed service, putting files behind object storage or enabling autoscaling, which trims operational toil without a rewrite.
- Refactor: — rebuilding selected pieces around containers, managed queues or serverless triggers, justified only for systems that are strategic and expected to serve for many more years.
- Retire: — dropping servers whose sole purpose is keeping a forgotten process alive, so nobody pays to relocate dead weight.
Systems that exchange traffic continuously cannot be split across a public internet hop, so cloud migration connectivity is designed first: a dedicated circuit such as AWS Direct Connect or Azure ExpressRoute into the chosen region, hybrid DNS resolving identically on both sides, and firewall rules written before the first workload moves. Latency budgets are written down too, with the path measured from your offices to the selected region rather than assumed afterwards. Our networking services survey covers the site end of that path.
Identity work starts before the first workload moves, because accounts created by hand are how configuration drift begins. We federate the cloud control plane to your existing directory over SAML or OpenID Connect while both estates overlap, giving staff one identity, one password policy and one joiner-mover-leaver process through the cloud migration. Administrative access is split by role, break-glass credentials are vaulted and rotated, multi-factor authentication is compulsory for anyone who can alter infrastructure, and service accounts receive short-lived tokens instead of long-lived keys.
Four methods cover almost every dataset in a cloud migration: staged replication over the internet for ordinary volumes, a vendor-accelerated transfer service when the window is tight, a dedicated circuit for continuous flows, and a physical shipping appliance for terabyte-scale archives that would otherwise saturate a link all weekend. Whichever you choose, the sequence is full copy first, replication while the old environment still serves, then a final delta sync, with row counts and checksums checked for cloud migration before any user traffic is switched.
The pilot workload is chosen rather than volunteered: something representative of the estate, with a similar operating system, data shape and integration pattern, but small enough that a problem costs an evening instead of a quarter. The rehearsal proves provisioning from templates, agent installation, data synchronisation, monitoring alerts, smoke tests and the rollback procedure itself, so later waves of cloud migration inherit a method that has already worked once under realistic load.
For transactional workloads the source environment stays live while the target takes a mirror of the traffic, and both sides run together for an agreed period before anyone authorises the switch. Cutover windows sit outside working hours with a runbook naming every step, owner and checkpoint, from DNS updates and firewall rules to licence reactivation and smoke tests, each marked pass or fail so nobody negotiates during the cloud migration cutover.
Every wave ships with a rehearsed route backwards: if verification after the switch fails, traffic returns to the source environment within the recovery time you agreed, the cause is written up, and a retry happens only after the fix has been proven. That only works when DNS time-to-live is short, replay of writes is planned and the person authorised to call rollback is named in advance of the cloud migration cutover, which we practise during the pilot. The same discipline underpins our backup and disaster recovery practice.
The first full month is always dearer than the spreadsheet suggested, so cloud migration cost modelling compares three purchase options across a realistic twelve-month profile: on-demand capacity for spiky workloads, one-year and three-year reservations for baseline machines that run continuously, and committed-use discounts for the ground between them. We calculate the crossover explicitly and add egress, snapshot storage and log ingestion before you commit, because those lines are where cloud migration budgets leak. Pilot environments often start on cloud VPS plans where commitment would be premature.
Licences travel with rules attached, and the licensing review happens during discovery rather than after the invoice. Windows Server and SQL Server mobility terms permit reassignment to a cloud provider only under stated conditions, per-core minimums can push a lifted estate into a different price band, and third-party products licensed by socket or instance need the same treatment. We compare bring-your-own-licence pricing against marketplace rates for cloud migration and record the position before anything is provisioned.
Moving data does not make regulated data unregulated, and region selection is a design decision rather than a default. Financial services workloads carry localisation duties from the Reserve Bank of India, listed-company reporting sits with SEBI, insurance records fall under IRDAI, and personal data handling must reflect the Digital Personal Data Protection Act. We confirm which categories must remain inside India and which may travel, then pin storage, backups, snapshots and log streams to regions that honour those answers for cloud migration.
The month after the switch is when the estate is measured against reality: right-sizing replaces the generous instance shapes chosen beforehand, storage tiers match actual access patterns, unattached volumes are reclaimed, and snapshots move to cheaper policies once retention is agreed. Database parameters are tuned, autoscaling is calibrated against observed peaks, and alerts are retuned so your team receives signal instead of noise. That watch continues after cloud migration through our server monitoring service.
Pricing Cloud Migration in India
Discovery is a fixed-fee engagement in INR that produces an inventory, a route recommendation per workload and an effort estimate, and it stands on its own even if you decide not to proceed. Each wave is then quoted at a fixed price agreed before it opens, with no open-ended hourly billing, and thirty days of post-move tuning are included rather than sold as an extra.
Industries Served Across India
Most of our cloud migration work sits with mid-market organisations: professional services firms retiring legacyERP and CRM servers, manufacturers moving line-of-business applications off the plant floor, healthcare providers handling patient platforms, and education operators running student portals. Availability and reporting duties differ in each case, so the runbook is written around them rather than reused.
