Azure Cloud Setup Cost

Azure Cloud Setup Cost in India (2026)

Two numbers get mixed up in every Azure conversation: what Microsoft charges for the resources, and what it costs to build the environment properly. This page covers the second one, because it is the part we quote and the part that decides whether the first one stays under control.

Share your requirement, current setup, and expected timeline. We will help you scope the right service approach quickly.

Azure Cloud Setup Cost

An Azure subscription created in five minutes can take months to untangle: one subscription holding production and experiments, a global administrator for daily work, and no policy preventing an expensive resource in the wrong region. The setup fee buys the structure, not the servers.

What the setup fee actually buys

An Azure environment is a set of decisions: how many subscriptions, who can create resources, which regions are allowed, how networks connect, where logs go and how backups run. The fee covers making those decisions, implementing them and documenting them.

It does not include Microsoft's charges for compute, storage or egress. Those go to your payment method, in your account, and we do not mark them up.

The modules that make up a setup
01
Identity and subscriptions: Entra ID groups, roles, subscription split by environment · 3-5 days
02
Network baseline: VNet, subnets, NSG rules, private endpoints, DNS · 4-7 days
03
Policy and cost guardrails: Azure Policy, budgets, tags, region restrictions · 2-4 days
04
Backup and logging: Recovery vault, retention, Log Analytics workspace · 3-5 days
05
First workload: App Service or VM, deployment, monitoring · 1-3 weeks
Why identity comes before anything else

If daily administration uses a global administrator account, every other control is decorative. The first job is group-based access, separate administrator accounts, and role assignments that map to what people actually do.

For most businesses that means Entra ID groups for platform, application and read-only access, with privileged roles activated only when needed rather than held permanently.

Subscriptions and the separation that saves money later

Production, staging and sandbox belong in separate subscriptions so that a policy, quota or budget applies to one without affecting the others. It also makes the bill readable, which is usually the moment a business discovers what it is paying for.

Networking, private endpoints and the DNS trap

Private endpoints are the right way to reach a database without exposing it, but they only work if DNS resolves to the private address. That DNS record is the most commonly forgotten step, and the symptom is a connection timeout that looks like a firewall problem.

We configure the private DNS zone and link it to the virtual network as part of the build, then test resolution from inside the network before handover.

Guardrails that prevent the surprise invoice

Azure Policy can restrict regions, block expensive SKUs and require tags. Budgets send alerts before the month ends, and tags let you attribute spend to a project or a client.

Microsoft's prices change and vary by region, so we do not publish them. What we control is the set of rules that stops an accidental GPU or an oversized disk from running unattended.

What can be added later, and what cannot

Additional workloads, extra environments and monitoring can be added at any time. The subscription layout, identity model and network addressing are the parts that are expensive to change once resources exist, which is why they are settled first.

Timelines and what delays them

A single-environment setup takes two to three weeks. Multi-environment landing zones take four to six. The usual delays are an identity provider that has never been connected, a domain controlled by another vendor, and a compliance review that arrives after the build starts.

What the Azure bill covers, separately

Compute, storage, bandwidth, licences and any reserved capacity are billed by Microsoft to your account. We provide a cost baseline and a tagging scheme so those charges can be attributed, but we do not resell them.

If the bill is already higher than expected, a cost review is a smaller engagement than a rebuild.

What to send before an Azure quote

Send the workloads, whether Microsoft 365 or Entra ID is already in use, the regions your data must stay in, and who will approve production changes. Those four answers decide most of the scope.

What the number depends on

The fee moves with the number of environments, whether private connectivity is required, how many workloads arrive in the first wave, and whether identity already exists in Entra ID. A single environment with one workload is the smallest version of the work.

Microsoft's charges are separate. We provide a baseline and a tagging scheme so the bill can be attributed, and we do not quote Microsoft's rates because they change by region and by agreement.

What is not in the setup fee

Application development, data migration beyond the first workload, licences, and any Microsoft support plan. Those are scoped separately, and the first two are usually the reason a project runs longer than the platform work.

Before the build starts

Confirm who the Azure account owner will be, whether staging is required at launch, and which region is mandatory for data. Getting those three answers in writing removes most of the rework.

Frequently Asked Questions
A single-environment setup starts at Rs 49,999. Multi-environment landing zones, private connectivity and workload migration are quoted after discovery. Microsoft's usage charges are separate and billed to your account.
Identity and subscription structure, network baseline with private endpoints, policy and budget guardrails, backup and logging, and the first workload deployed and monitored.
Yes. Data residency, audit retention and private connectivity requirements add design and documentation work, so the scope is larger than a standard single-environment build.
Separate subscriptions for production, staging and sandbox keep policy, quotas and budgets from leaking into each other. It also makes the bill readable by environment.
No. The account and payment method stay in your name, and Microsoft bills you directly. Our fee covers the implementation work only.
Two to three weeks for a single environment, four to six for a multi-environment landing zone. Identity integration and compliance reviews are the usual causes of delay.
Yes, as a separate migration workstream. Discovery maps dependencies and wave order, and cutover is rehearsed with a rollback before production moves.
We review the existing subscription layout, identity and networking, then fix in place where the structure is sound. A rebuild is proposed only when the subscription model itself is the problem.
Yes, as a monthly retainer covering patching, monitoring, backup checks and cost review. It is scoped separately from the build.
The workloads, whether Entra ID or Microsoft 365 is already in use, the regions allowed for data, and who approves production changes.
