App Development Cost in India (2026)
An app budget is decided before anybody opens an editor. Someone has to choose the first platform, name the systems the app must talk to, and accept how much of the backend has to exist on day one. The bands below price each of those decisions for 2026, using the same stages as our app development service, so a proposal can be checked against a published figure instead of a hopeful estimate.

What an App Build Costs
One connected partner for planning, implementation, support, and ongoing optimization around this service area.
App quotes are usually read as one number, which hides the part that matters: what stage the money buys. Discovery, a browser build, a phone build and the service layer behind them are four purchases with four different risks. Separating them lets a business stop, review and continue without reopening the whole contract.
App development cost bands for 2026
Six workstreams cover nearly every app we price. Discovery and architecture run from Rs 1,50,000 to Rs 4,00,000 across three to five weeks. A web application is quoted starting from Rs 4,00,000 and reaches Rs 15,00,000 over ten to twenty weeks. A single-platform mobile build runs from Rs 5,00,000 to Rs 15,00,000, a cross-platform mobile build from Rs 6,00,000 to Rs 20,00,000, and a desktop program from Rs 5,00,000 to Rs 18,00,000. The backend and admin panel behind any of them costs Rs 3,00,000 to Rs 12,00,000.
Those ranges assume a discovered screen list rather than a wish list. The lower end fits one or two developers, standard sign-in and integrations that already publish a documented interface. The upper end covers several user roles, payment or stock logic, and a reporting layer that somebody will audit.
Front-end prices are easy to compare and rarely explain the gap between two quotes. Accounts, permissions, history, notifications and the API every client depends on are one build, and that build does not shrink because the first screen looks simple. It grows later when a second platform arrives and the first design assumed a single client.
A backend planned for several front ends costs more at the start and much less by month nine. The premium is roughly the difference between an admin panel welded to its pages and a service with published contracts. In our stage table that difference usually sits inside the backend band rather than appearing as an extra line.
Order matters more than the platform label for the same reason. A browser tool that proves the data model can be followed by a phone app without reopening the schema, so the second release reuses what the first one already paid for.
Web is the cheapest way to reach a working product, because distribution is a link and an update lands immediately. Mobile costs more per release: two stores, a wider device matrix and a review queue that can hold a launch for a week. Desktop costs more again in packaging and update plumbing, yet it remains the honest answer when the software must reach a serial port or a local file.
Cross-platform mobile sits between native and web. One codebase trims the second platform cost, but it also ties part of the roadmap to a framework release schedule, and heavy camera or Bluetooth work can eat the saving. We quote both routes when a requirement is borderline, since the difference is easier to judge as two numbers than as an argument.
The first year after launch usually absorbs fifteen to twenty-five percent of the build, spread over operating-system updates, dependency patches, store policy changes and small workflow adjustments. None of that appears on a launch invoice, and a budget that stops at go live tends to produce a system nobody wants to touch eighteen months later.
Store submissions are a recurring charge that surprises teams new to mobile. Both major platforms revise their requirements, and an app that passed review in spring can fail in autumn without a line of code changing. Reserving one release cycle a year for compliance work is cheaper than discovering the problem during a campaign.
Compare screen lists before prices. Two quotes at the same figure can describe different products, and the cheaper one usually leaves out admin screens, empty states or the reporting view that was demoed. Ask each vendor to mark which of the six workstreams above sit inside the number.
Then compare the handover. A proposal that delivers a repository, a deployment guide and a test plan is a different purchase from one that delivers a running server and an invoice.
Finally, check the assumed audience. A build priced for twenty internal users and one priced for twenty thousand customers can share a screen list and share almost nothing else.
Stage table for an app build in 2026
The rows repeat the bands published on the app development page so the two can be read together. Each scope can be approved on its own.
| Build stage | Published band | Weeks |
|---|---|---|
| Discovery, architecture and screen list | Rs 1,50,000 - Rs 4,00,000 | 3-5 |
| Web application | Rs 4,00,000 - Rs 15,00,000 | 10-20 |
| Mobile app, one platform | Rs 5,00,000 - Rs 15,00,000 | 12-20 |
| Mobile app, both platforms from one codebase | Rs 6,00,000 - Rs 20,00,000 | 12-22 |
| Desktop program | Rs 5,00,000 - Rs 18,00,000 | 12-20 |
| Backend and admin panel | Rs 3,00,000 - Rs 12,00,000 | 8-16 |
A product that ships two platforms plus a backend commonly lands between Rs 15,00,000 and Rs 40,00,000. The spread between low and high is rarely the interface; it is the count of roles, integrations and reports the business genuinely needs.
Costs that sit outside an app development quote
- Cloud hosting and storage, billed monthly by the provider and separate from build work.
- Store developer accounts, renewed each year in the client own name.
- Messaging and map usage, which scales with users rather than with screens.
- Design assets such as photography, illustration and icon sets produced outside the build.
- Historical data cleanup when years of records must be corrected before import.
Where the app cost guides fit
The bands above price a build by workstream. A reader who wants a figure for a specific kind of product will find it in the guide library, which covers more than a hundred app categories from quick commerce to streaming.
Begin at app development cost guides for the full index. A delivery marketplace is priced on Zomato app development cost, a ten-minute grocery model on Zepto app development cost, and a broking product on Zerodha app development cost.
The platform decision behind those numbers is set out on app development, with mobile app development and web app development taking each route further. A product sold by subscription rather than built for one company is priced on SaaS product development.
To turn a band into a quotation, send the screen list, the integrations and the number of user roles. Ring +91 78400 02466 if a written estimate is easier to discuss than to read.
