Metal Fabrication Software Cost in India (2026)

Fabrication is priced before it is built and settled after it is weighed. Between the quotation and the dispatch challan sit cutting, bending, welding, painting and inspection, and each stage can quietly consume the margin the estimate assumed.

Metal Fabrication Software Cost

The working modules are estimation with a rate build-up, bills of material by drawing, cutting and nesting plans, job cards by operation, stage-wise work in progress, inspection and rework, and dispatch with weight reconciliation. Drawing revision control is the piece most generic ERP installations underestimate.

Metal fabrication software cost by module in 2026

Ranges assume a job-work shop with thirty to eighty workers and a mix of repeat and one-off orders.

A shop running estimation, job cards and dispatch typically spends Rs 3,50,000 to Rs 9,00,000. Shops with nesting, stage inspection and piece-rate wages across multiple units run Rs 9,00,000 to Rs 18,00,000.

Estimation, BOM and cutting plans
01
Rate build-up. Material, cutting, welding, finishing and overhead shown separately so a discount can be applied to the right line.
02
Drawing-linked BOM. Each revision carries its own material list, and the shop floor sees only the current one.
03
Cutting plan. Bar and plate breakdown that shows offcut before the saw, not after.
04
Weight calculation. Theoretical weight from section and length, checked against actual at dispatch.
05
Revision control. A changed drawing must reach material issue and the job card together.
Work in progress across cutting, welding and paint

Fabricated parts are heavy, half-finished and easy to lose in a yard. Stage-wise tracking tells you how many pieces are cut but not welded, and which order is holding up a dispatch.

Paint and galvanising are usually outsourced, which adds an external stage with its own gate pass and return quantity. That return is where pieces go missing.

Piece-rate wages and the cost of rework

Piece rates are calculated per operation, so the system has to know how many pieces passed a stage and at what rate. Rejected pieces must not be paid twice, which means rework is recorded as its own operation rather than a repeat of the original.

When wages are computed from output, the wage report and the production report have to agree. Disagreement here is usually the reason a shop abandons the software.

Client-supplied material and free-issue tracking

Job-work often arrives with the customer's steel. The challan records what came in, the job card records what was consumed, and the scrap has to be returned or accounted for by weight.

Without free-issue tracking, a shortfall at the end of the job looks like theft. With it, the shortfall is a number that can be explained.

Questions before a fabrication software quotation

Ask how a drawing revision reaches the shop floor. Ask whether nesting is included or sold separately. Ask how outsourced painting is tracked. Ask how the weighbridge ticket links to the invoice.

Estimate against actual, order by order

The single most valuable report in a fabrication shop compares quoted material and hours with what the job actually consumed. Without it, every quote is a guess repeated with confidence.

Weighment is the settlement

Fabricated supply is usually billed on weight. If the dispatch weight comes from a slip of paper rather than the weighbridge, disputes are settled in the customer's favour.

What to confirm in a fabrication software quote

Confirm whether nesting and drawing revision control are in scope, how many operations need piece rates, whether outsourced processes are tracked, and whether the weighbridge is integrated or manual.

Send the operation list and order mix

Write to [email protected] with the operations performed in-house, the outsourced processes and the number of active orders, or send the same on WhatsApp. The operation list decides the job-card design.

If quotations are still built in a spreadsheet, call 7840002466 and we will scope estimation and BOM first, since every later report depends on that structure.

Frequently Asked Questions
A job-work shop typically pays Rs 3,50,000 to Rs 9,00,000 for estimation, job cards, WIP and dispatch. Adding nesting, stage inspection and piece-rate wages across multiple units takes it to Rs 9,00,000 to Rs 18,00,000.
Yes. A shop that needs estimation, job cards and dispatch can start near Rs 3,00,000. Nesting, drawing revision control and outsourced-process tracking are the modules that move the figure.
Rate build-up and BOM, cutting plans, job cards by operation, stage-wise WIP, inspection and rework, piece-rate wage calculation, dispatch and weighment. CAD licences, nesting engines and machine controllers are usually separate.
It should, and this is the detail most generic ERP projects underestimate. A revision needs to reach the material list, the job card and the shop floor together, with the old version retained for reference.
Yes, per operation and per piece, with rework recorded separately so a rejected piece is not paid twice. The wage report must reconcile with the production report or the shop floor will stop trusting it.
The inward challan records the free-issue quantity, material issue records consumption against each job, and scrap is returned or accounted by weight. The closing statement shows receipt, consumption and balance.
Often separate. Basic cut plans can be handled inside the system, while optimised nesting for plate and profile cutting is usually a dedicated tool whose output is imported as a cutting list.
Ten to sixteen weeks, because master data is heavier than in trading businesses: sections, operations, rate cards and drawing structures all have to be set up before the first job card is raised.
Yes, as an external operation with a gate pass out, a return quantity and a rejection count. That return entry is what stops pieces disappearing between the shop and the treatment vendor.
